WINSTON I is a semi-automatic washing system to wash and dry bins of dierent dimensions following customer’s repeatable and certified pharmaceutical recipes.
Functional description
The system is basically composed of:
- a lifting column that holds a lid (which includes one or more washing heads, and the dryer lamp). The lid can be positioned at dierent heights on top of dierent bins to be washed.
- a skid
- a control panel
- a platform to position the bin or the components container to be washed.
WINSTON semi-automatic system, thanks to its recipe-based management, allows precise control and customization of the following phases of the process:
- Pre-wash with tap water (TAP)
- Washing with tap water (TAP)
- Rinsing with demineralized water
- Drying using hot air and infrared lamp
The system’s flexibility allows recipe customization, (as an example, exclude pre-washing and perform only washing, rinse, and drying), based on the process needs and the type of product treated.
ACCESORIES
Winston Rack
To wash and dry dierent components and specific parts, Luperini has designed a specific bin-shaped movable washer container, which features customized washing heads inside to perform its work eectively and eiciently. Inside this container there are racks where dierent components and parts can be positioned to be washed and dried. This container has doors on its sides to easily position the components and parts.
This components’ washer container is movable (has wheels), meaning that the operator can take it with him to collect components in dierent areas/rooms of the laboratory, to finally position it in the washing room (set it on WINSTON’s system) to wash and dry. When the components are completely cleaned and dried, the operator can take the container back with him and return these parts to their original location.
Washing lance
A washing lance is useful when external bin washing is needed (to be used by an operator even when the automatic system is washing and drying the bin internally).

MAIN ADVANTAGES
- Easy and simple to install;
- occupies less space in the washing room (compared with an industrial washing station);
- Tit is 100% user friendly and totally reliable. The system is semi-automatic as the only phase where an operator would be involved is during the external bin washing if it is required; the rest of the process is automatic;
- all the system can be customized based on customer needs. For example, the skid, that can be designed based on customer’s specific recipe (based on quantity of detergent to use, etc);
- It is cost-eective: its convenient price is good value for money based on its high quality, benefits and practicality;
- Validation according to GMP standards;
- Compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 regulation.
MAIN BENEFITS
- Allows repeatability and standardization of the process, essential facts in regulated production environments;
- Allows complete automation of internal washing and drying process, not needing continuous operator presence;
- Facilitates consumption optimization thanks to precise definition of the washing phases and the ability to accurately calculate water and electricity consumption for each cycle.
All in all, WINSTON semi-automatic system represents a strategic solution that successfully generates significant savings, in reference to personnel hours and water and energy consumption. Additionally, the use of recipes allows reliable and traceable data regarding consumption, facilitating analysis and possible future enhancement.
